Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited Exhibits Green Innovations for a Sustainable Future at the 22nd nd Anniversary of the Department of Rural Roads
On October 9, 2024, Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited participated in an exhibition titled “22 Years of Sustainable Growth with the Department of Rural Roads,” celebrating the department’s 22nd anniversary. The event was held at the Department of Rural Roads headquarters in Bangkhen, Bangkok, and was presided over by Mr. Chayatham Phromsorn, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, along with senior executives from the ministry. Also in attendance were Mr. Montri Dechasakulsom, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, and other department executives.
The exhibition aimed to share technical knowledge (KM) under the theme “Build, Repair, Promote, Develop” and to present the department’s achievements over the past years. Tipco Asphalt showcased two key green innovations for a sustainable future:
1. Warm Mix Asphalt: This solution reduces the temperature required for road production and construction, decreasing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. It helps save 15-20% on fuel use, reduces hydrocarbon emissions by 30-50%, and operates at lower temperatures (120-135°C).
2. Porous Asphalt Concrete: With a high surface porosity, this type of asphalt allows water to drain from the road surface, reducing water spray while driving in rainy conditions and preventing skidding, thereby enhancing road safety. It also reduces driving noise levels by more than 6 decibels.
Throughout the day, over 300 executives and staff from the central office, regional offices (1-18), and district offices across the country attended the event. They showed great interest in the company’s green products and solutions, underscoring the growing awareness of the importance of sustainable road construction and maintenance. This aligns with the Department of Rural Roads’ mission to build roads and bridges, enhance the transportation network, improve travel convenience, safety, and speed, and boost the country’s economy under the policy “Transport for Thailand’s Opportunities.”
