Welcoming Laos’ customers to visit Tipco Asphalt 

Tipco Asphalt Laos Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Tipco Asphalt Group, invited 16 customers and business partners from Laos to visit the company’s headquarters and participate in a study on quality control, research, and the development of asphalt product innovations. The event took place at the Research and Development Department at the Phra Pradaeng plant in Samut Prakan Province from August 15-17, 2024.

During the visit, Phra Pradaeng plant introduced its Centralized Logistic Management, which enables the company to effectively monitor and control the truck fleet nationwide. This system also supports efficient inventory management, provides real-time transport information to all stakeholders, and regulates vehicle speed to ensure road safety.

Additionally, the customers observed a demonstration of asphalt emulsion products for Prime Coat applications, focusing on a comparison between the properties and performance of Emulsified Asphalt Prime (EAP) and Cutback Asphalt (MC-70). The EAP was highlighted for its superior fuel and energy saving, as it can be used without the need for pre-heating. This innovative product is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the company is committed to promoting its use in road construction and maintenance in Laos to help protect the environment and foster a sustainable future.

This event is part of the company’s Customer Centric policy, which prioritizes customer needs, expectations, and experiences. The goal is to enhance knowledge, share new technologies and innovations, and foster long-term relationships with customers while improving safety across all sectors.

On May 8, 2024, Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited, represented by Mr. Soranard Nantamontry (Deputy CEO – Thailand Business) and Mr. Surapon Katekaew (Technical Director), together with the Department of Civil Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, represented by Professor Dr. Boonchai Stitmannaithum (Head of the Department of Civil Engineering) and Associate Professor Dr. Withit Pansuk (Deputy Head of the Department – Academic Affairs), formally entered into an MOU for academic collaboration. The collaboration aims to foster academic partnership and facilitate research activities beneficial to both parties, including special lectures by company experts at the university, support for on-site visits to construction projects and access to laboratory testing facilities, opportunities for internship, as well as joint research and development endeavors focused on enhancing asphalt concrete materials and solutions. Associate Professor Dr. Sorawit Narupiti and Associate Professor Dr. Boonchai Sangpetngam, associate professors of Transportation Engineering at Chulalongkorn University, also served as witnesses during the ceremony.

“Bitumen Marine” orders new asphalt vessel to enhance its logistics capabilities

On 9 April 2024, Bitumen Marine Co., Ltd. (subsidiary of Tipco Asphalt PCL) signed a contract with Sumisho Marine Co., Ltd and Sasaki Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, from Japan, to build a new 8,000 DWT asphalt vessel with design emphasis on environmental conservation and energy efficiency. The vessel will have a maximum voyage distance of 13,500 nautical miles and maximum speed of 14 knots. This new vessel will increase the Group’s asphalt carrying capabilities, complimenting the 8 vessels (1,200-12,000 DWT) currently in service, allowing for greater carrying capacity of asphalt products to customers in Southeast Asia, Northern Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

On April 1, 2024, Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited signed a contract with Montri Transport Corporation Public Company Limited to adopt the use of 423 kWh electric tractors, for transporting raw materials from Laem Chabang to the Korat Plant. This is an increase in the proportion of clean energy use in the company’s transportation system, in line with our GHG emissions reduction target, both Scope 1 and Scope 2, by at least 36% by 2030 compared to the baseline GHG emissions in the year 2020. This collaboration aligns with the climate strategies as we work with specialized logistic partners to reduce GHG emissions, reaffirming our commitment to environmental sustainability. Additionally, this project also engages in reducing the company’s scope 3 GHG emissions.

On March 17, 2024, Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited invited health-conscious customers to participate in the “3rd Runway Suvarnabhumi Charity Run,” offering a once-in-a-lifetime running experience on Runway 3, amidst the beautiful scenery of Suvarnabhumi Airport and the lively atmosphere of the event filled with the joy and smiles of the runners. Moreover, Tipco Asphalt contributed donations and supported the purchase of medical equipment for hospitals in remote areas, reaffirming our commitment to promoting and assisting in the social development of people’s quality of life. Additionally, this activity provided an opportunity for employees and customers to engage in social activities alongside exercising for good health and strengthening good relationships between employees and customers as well.

On 25 January 2024, Khun Chaiwat Srivalwat, Chief Executive Officer, has chaired the certification ceremony of ISO/IEC27001:2022, from the British Standards Institution (BSI), an accredited certified body. Khun Sorachart Karphkraikaew, Senior Manager – Information Technology, represents Tipco Asphalt Group in the certification ceremony, while Khun Bookkhalakorn Chaidee, Sales and Marketing Director of BSI Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd. resented the certificate. Attending the ceremony includes the management and representatives from IT Safety and Security Management Standard Committee.

The Information Technology Department recognizes the importance of data security in Thailand’s business network. Most of the data is stored at our data center, where important equipment in information technology and networks is located, such as computer server, virtual servers and network devices, etc.

We are committed to continuous the safety and security of our Data Center, and managing the security of computer data centers. Applying the standard of ISO/IEC 27001:2022 — Information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection is our latest development to ensure our Data Center’s management complies with international standard with following objectives:

  1. To manage our information safety and security by ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information according to the ISO/IEC 27001.
  2. To ensure that our service on IT infrastructure and operation network of Thailand Business is secured, with continuous availability on all locations and all time.
  3. To ensure that safety and security of our Data Center management is continuously improved.

On 17th February 2024, Tipco Asphalt Public Company Limited, along with its partner, Chok Suchin Construction Company Limited supported The 5th volunteer project by the Department of Civil Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. The project aimed to enhance the entrance road at Nikom Sang Ton Eng Petch Dam School (Phibulsongkram 1), Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province.

Tipco Asphalt PCL and Chok Suchin Construction Co., Ltd. collaborated to provide Tipco Premix products and machinery for the volunteer project organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. The project involved 218 participants, including undergraduate students from 2nd to 4th year, department of Civil Engineering staff and professors. Together, we worked on improving the entrance road to Nikom Sang Ton Eng Petch Dam School, contributing to the betterment of the quality of life for students, teachers, and parents by ensuring safer commuting to and from the school and reducing air pollution from dust and smoke when passing through by vehicles.

The activity also included establishing relationships between the civil engineering undergraduate students and Tipco Asphalt team, as we engaged in discussion and exchanged experiences regarding the usage of Tipco Premix products, aiming to highlight the differences between Cold-mixed Asphalt and Hot-mixed Asphalt and the selection of suitable materials for various applications. Moreover, we are currently working to sign an agreement as academic partners to further advance education and elevate expertise in asphalt and asphalt concrete, preparing for the future market demands.

On February 1, 2024, Tipco Asphalt PCL., led by Khun Soranard Nantamontry, COO – Thailand Business, along with our business partner, Nex Point PCL., a leader in Thailand’s electric vehicle manufacturing industry, introduced an innovation in transportation by using the 423 kWh EV Tractor for the first time to transport raw materials from Laem Chabang to Korat Plant. This initiative promotes environmentally friendly transportation (Green Logistics). The use of electric trucks is part of the company’s policies and strategic plans to sustainably develop the business, focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with government policies, as well as addressing climate change, which is a significant global trend. We firmly believe that Green Logistics will play a key role in creating a sustainable environment.

On January 15-17, 2024, Tipco Asphalt Group hosted Tipco Asphalt Academy for Young Executives for the first time under the theme “Paving your Future Success.” The purpose of this event was to help develop the potential of the next-generation executives of our long-term road construction customers. This was achieved through knowledge sharing and inspirational talks by Khun Kris Sertthin Director – Domestic Sales and Marketing sharing his experiences in the construction business, focusing on both planning and managing the business, and dealing with various challenges to sustain the business in the long term.

Recognizing the importance of customers passing on their construction businesses, we prioritize supporting the sustainable growth of next-generation executives. Therefore, we have organized various learning activities, including workshops, brainstorming sessions, and experience exchanges focused on the construction business. This event provides a significant opportunity for us to understand our customers’ lifestyles, work dynamics, business concerns, and future needs. This understanding enables us to enhance our products and services to better meet their requirements. It reinforces our commitment to becoming a reliable partner for customers from generation to generation.

The first Tipco Asphalt Academy for Young Executives was highly successful and received outstanding feedback from customers. The company intends to host the second event to maintain the ongoing development of skills among the next-generation executives. Updates for the upcoming session will later be provided.
