Tipco Asphalt Group Hosts Next-Generation Partners at the Suvarnabhumi Airport’s Mega 3rd Runway Project
On June 30, 2023, the Tipco Asphalt Group welcomed a group of young visitors, the next generation owners of our long-term partners and road construction customers, at our Suvarnabhumi Airport job site. They were there to observe the new construction techniques and applications used for the mega 3rd Runway project. The visit provided them with a valuable opportunity to gain insights into the runway construction processes and to exchange ideas. This aligns with our mission to foster sustainable growth within our partners and to strengthen relationships with these next generations owners.
The 3rd Runway project at the Suvarnabhumi Airport is a one of the biggest undertakings of our Group, with a total project value of Baht 9,713 million. The project involves the use of more than 800,000 tons of asphalt concrete and specialized design and construction techniques. The ground improvement work was executed by world-class experts with exceptional capabilities. Prefabricated vertical drains (PVD) system and vacuum consolidation method (VCM) were used for the ground improvement work to achieve the designed load-bearing capacity of the runway. Premium quality asphalt concrete, up to a total depth of 43 cm, were laid in layers so the runway and taxiway can meet the to support the weight of today’s huge wide body jets.
